Lucy O'Brien

Lucy was part of our 2016/17 Young Reporter class. She won in the Interview category and said at the time that taking part in the scheme exposed her to new experiences, such as interviewing people in her community and working with the Metropolitan Police.
 
Once Lucy finished university, she worked as a freelance writer on all things life, wellness and culture, with bylines in Stylist, Huff Post UK, Retail Jeweller, Harper’s Bazaar and more. She is now the Junior Platforms and Social Media Journalist for The Times.

Lucy told us that the Young Reporter Scheme confirmed to her that journalism was something she was really interested in doing.
